Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra Concert


On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Sister State Relationship between Guangdong and New South Wales, Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra (GSO) will present a symphonic concert in Sydney, including two beautiful contemporary Chinese compositions, one of them interpreted by the famous cellist Li-Wei Qin. Founded in 1957, Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra is one of the most prestigious orchestras in China, and will perform:

Guo Wen Jing (1956- ) Folk Song Suite for String Orchestra (15 mins)
Zhao Lin (1973- ) Duo, Concerto for Cello, Sheng and Orchestra (25 mins)
Antonin Dvorak (1841-1904) Symphony No. 9, E minor (From the New World) (40 mins)


Lin Daye, principal conductor of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra,was awarded First Prize at the 2012 Solti Conductors Competition in Frankfurt,the unanimous choice of the panel of distinguished international jurors.
